Quartzite Countertops

Often called “the granite that looks like marble”, a quartzite countertop is very durable and stronger than granite on the Mohs scale. Due to its dynamic surface patterns, it looks more like marble but bears qualities of granite. Pure quartzite is usually white to gray, though it often occurs in various shades of pink and red due to varying amounts of iron oxide. The hardness of this stone makes it extremely resistant to water absorption, heat, and scratches, making it ideal for countertops.

While the names may sound similar, the key difference between quartz and quartzite lies in their structural composition, with quartzite being closer in structure to granite. Since the structure is between that of quartz and granite, quartzite countertop care falls somewhere in between. They require more care than the non-porous quartz, but less frequent sealing than the more porous granite.
